It was a surprise to me when I heard the news that the local city councel denied a shop owner’s application to open a sex doll shop in the area. I couldn’t believe that there was such a strong opposition against it. Even though I’m not a supporter of the shop, it was still an eye-opening moment to realize that we live in a society that still holds such traditional views of human sexuality.
At first, I didn’t get why the councellors decided to reject it. Then, I realized that there was more to the story than just a shop opening. People were worried about what kind of message it would send to the public and to young people, and dildos that prompted the councellors to deny the application.
I get why people are concerned, but I think it’s a shame that the councellors blocked the shop. It’s true that some people might misconstrue the shop’s purpose, but it might also help people who struggle with intimacy or are searching for an alternative. I don’t see any real harm in it being opened for those people.
The shop owner was disappointed, but kind of expected the rejection. The shop owner believes that attitudes towards sexuality are still lagging behind the times and it’s sad to see that in action. Plus, it’s not easy to start a business, and it must be very disheartening to have it denied in this way.
On the other hand, it’s true that the shop might not have been beneficial for our community. The moral implications of the shop were not lost on the councellors and it’s understandable why they made the decision they did.
I just wish the shop owner could’ve at least had more support and understanding instead of facing this blanket opposition and rejection. This could have been a great business opportunity that would’ve lead to great things, Penis Rings but due to a persistently biased view of sexuality, it never got off the ground.
I’m not sure what this means for the future, but I hope this instance serves as an example of how we should try to be more open-minded and tolerant of people’s private pursuits. There’s no need to live in fear of what other people are interested in, all we need is to respect that everyone is entitled to their privacy.
